My Journey
Movement has been my life's cornerstone for 31 years. From competitive sports to personal challenges, my path has shaped my unique approach to coaching.
As a former rugby player and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner (2011-2017), I've experienced firsthand the challenges of athletic performance, injury recovery, and maintaining strength. My journey through various injuries – from a labral tear to concussions – taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and proper rehabilitation.
My experience with the Department of Sports Medicine at USF and Grossmont College, combined with my role at City College of San Francisco's Department of Sports Performance, deepened my understanding of strength training and athletic development. Working with collegiate athletes, particularly the football team, honed my programming skills and transformed my approach to conditioning.
Personal Evolution
My coaching philosophy has been profoundly influenced by my own health journey. From navigating gut health issues to rebuilding strength after setbacks, I've learned the crucial importance of:
-
Stress management
-
Proper nutrition
-
Recovery protocols
-
Sleep optimization
-
Mental wellness
Today, as a Strongman athlete, I continue to challenge myself while practicing what I preach – focusing on sustainable progress, proper fueling, and finding joy in the journey.
